Community Service

Being at service is a powerful way for businesses to engage with their communities. It creates purpose for your organization and employees, loyalty among your customers or clients, and strength and cohesion for the neighborhoods you operate in.

There are many ways to get involved in community service. What’s most important is that the community service fits with your overall objectives and strategies. Work with me to create a plan that gives your business a greater purpose, engaged employees and a loyal clientele.

Being connected to, and in service to my local community is very important to me. I live in a historic district in downtown Seattle, and we take pride in our small businesses and neighborhood culture. I believe that a vibrant, diverse and inclusive environment for our people to live in and for businesses to operate in, is integral to everyone’s success.

Because I am passionate about being a part of my community, I welcome all opportunities to be involved, both through physical activities and as an advisor.  I have served on the board for our neighborhood residents’ council, volunteered with the neighborhood business alliance, and am currently co-founder of the Friends of Occidental Square. I spend time every week on neighborhood improvement projects to enhance the public realm and this also gives me the opportunity to work side by side with local business owners and non-profit organizations.

Some highlights of the activities I am involved in:

  • Neighborhood Public Realm advisor, where I helped establish Pioneer Square’s first rain garden, a mural under the Yesler Street bridge, and a fund to help with post-pandemic storefront rejuvenation

  • Regular neighborhood clean up events, like the Pioneer Square Spring Clean

  • Friends of Occidental Square, where I coordinate volunteer plantings seasonally as well as weekly maintenance of planters in Occidental Square

  • City-level coordination: I meet with the City of Seattle’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Downtown Seattle Association to align our neighborhood volunteer efforts with municipal plans to activate and upkeep downtown parks

  • Served as a board member for the Pioneer Square Residents’ Council

  • Project manage operations for neighborhood annual BBQ

  • Manage social media for the Alliance for Pioneer Square

I can help you tap into the power of your community. There are many ways to do it; we can design a plan that is right for you.
